We want you to know exactly what happens to the personal information you give us when you ask about a stay at Seven Lugard Apartments. This page is written in plain language. If anything is unclear, ask us and we will explain.
1. Who we are
This website is run by Seven Lugard Apartments (“we”, “us”), a serviced-apartment business at 7 Lugard Crescent, GRA, Enugu 400102, Nigeria. For the purposes of the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023, we decide how and why the personal information described here is used.
You can reach us at contact@sevenlugard.com, by phone on +234 903 660 6363, or on WhatsApp.
2. The short version
- We collect only what we need to answer your enquiry and look after your stay.
- You choose whether we contact you by email or by phone.
- We do not take card details on this website, and we do not sell your information.
- We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.
- You can ask to see, correct or delete your information at any time.
3. What we collect
The information depends on what you do on the site.
When you send a booking request
- Your name.
- Your email address or phone number, whichever you choose to give us (you may give both).
- Your check-in and check-out dates, the number of guests, and the apartments you select.
- Optionally, your expected arrival time, whether you would like an airport or station pickup, and any special requests you type. Please do not put sensitive information in the requests box, such as health details, unless it is needed for your stay.
When you use the contact form
- Your name, your email address or phone number, and the message you write.
When you message or call us
- If you contact us by email, WhatsApp or phone, we see your email address or number and whatever you tell us.
Collected automatically
- Your IP address and basic browser and device information, which our hosting provider’s servers record when you open the site.
- For booking requests, we record your IP address and the time of the attempt. We use this only to limit repeated submissions and stop abuse.
- One essential session cookie (see Cookies).
What we do not collect
We do not ask for your card or bank details on this website, your passwords, your national ID or passport number, or your date of birth. If we need identification when you arrive, we will ask for it then and explain why.
4. Why we use it
The Nigeria Data Protection Act requires us to have a lawful reason for each use. These are ours.
| What we do | Our reason |
|---|---|
| Reply to your booking request, check availability, agree payment and arrange your stay (including a pickup if you ask for one) | It is needed to take steps at your request before a booking, and to carry out the booking |
| Email you a copy of your request, and later your confirmation | It is part of providing the booking you asked for |
| Answer questions you send through the contact form, WhatsApp, email or phone | You asked us to, which is your consent to us replying |
| Keep the site secure, limit repeated submissions and prevent misuse | Our legitimate interest in protecting the business and other guests |
| Keep booking records for accounting, tax and legal purposes | A legal obligation |
We do not use your information for marketing emails or messages. If that ever changes, we will ask for your consent first and you will be able to say no.
We do not make decisions about you by automated means. Every booking request is read by a person.
5. Who else handles it
We do not sell or rent your information. We use a small number of service providers to run the site. They handle data only to provide their service to us.
| Provider | What for | What they may see |
|---|---|---|
| Truehost | Hosts this website and its database | Everything stored on the site, including booking records, and server logs with IP addresses |
| Namecheap (Private Email) | Sends and receives our emails | The content of emails sent to or from contact@sevenlugard.com, including your booking-request copy |
| Fonts used by this site, and the map on the homepage | Your IP address and browser details when those load | |
| WhatsApp (Meta) | Only if you choose to message us on WhatsApp | Your number and messages, under WhatsApp’s own privacy policy |
| Paystack | Card payments, only if online payment is switched on in future | Payment details you enter on Paystack’s own secure page. We never see or store your card number |
We may also disclose information if the law requires it, for example to a court, regulator or the police, or to protect people from harm.
Transfers outside Nigeria. Some of these providers store or process data on servers outside Nigeria. Where that happens, we rely on providers that apply recognised security standards, and we share only what the service needs.
6. Cookies
The site sets one essential session cookie. It protects our forms against forgery and keeps your booking steps working. It is removed when you close your browser and contains no personal details.
We do not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels or analytics cookies. Google Fonts and the Google map may set their own technical cookies or receive your IP address when they load; their privacy policy applies to that.
7. How long we keep it
| Information | How long |
|---|---|
| Booking records (name, contact, dates, rooms, notes) | For as long as we need them to run your stay, and afterwards for as long as accounting and legal rules require |
| Contact-form messages and emails | Only as long as needed to reply and follow up, then deleted or archived |
| Booking-attempt records (IP address and time) | Deleted automatically after 30 days |
| Server logs kept by our hosting provider | Under the provider’s own retention rules |
If you ask us to delete your information, we will do so unless we must keep part of it by law, in which case we will tell you which part and why.
8. How we protect it
- The website is served over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection.
- Our staff area requires a login, and passwords are stored in a scrambled (hashed) form, never as plain text.
- Forms are protected against forgery, and repeated booking attempts from one address are limited.
- Only team members who need booking information to do their job can see it.
No system on the internet is completely secure. If a breach ever puts your information at risk, we will tell you and the Nigeria Data Protection Commission as the law requires.
9. Your rights
Under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 you have the right to:
- Be informed about how your information is used (this page).
- Access a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
- Correct anything that is wrong or out of date.
- Delete your information when we no longer need it.
- Restrict or object to a particular use of your information.
- Withdraw consent where we rely on it. This does not affect what we did before you withdrew.
- Move your information to another provider in a usable format, where that applies.
How to use them. Email contact@sevenlugard.com with your name and the email address or phone number you used, and say what you would like. We may ask you to confirm who you are before we share or change anything. We aim to respond within 30 days.
Complaints. If you are unhappy with how we handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.
10. Other things to know
Children
This website is for adults making travel arrangements. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Other people’s details
If you make a booking for someone else, please make sure they know you have given us their details.
Links to other sites
This site links to our Instagram, TikTok and Facebook pages, to WhatsApp, and to Google Maps. Those services have their own privacy policies and we are not responsible for them.
11. Changes and contact
If we change how we handle personal information, we will update this page and the date at the top. Material changes will be easy to spot here.
